Friday fun!
I’d give my right nut to see Optimus Prime take on Steve Gutenberg in Dancing with the Stars.
Thanks to the Great White Snark for passing this along. I appreciate that he took time away from his packed schedule of finding tremendously awesome geeky cakes to send this my way.
The Macalope is a very funny Mac-centric blog that pays the bills by skewering critics of Apple, usually by way of superior writing and hilarious malevolence, and by eviscerating the usual suspects of tech analysts, usually by way of pointing out how incredibly stupid the entire tech analyst racket is (John C. Welch does the [...]
Here’s a cool animated short film titled The History of Evil. As I’m sure you can guess, it documents the history of evil, from ancient Greece to modern times. The animation is beautiful and captivating, though the narration is, I think, very poor. Worth a look, more than a listen.

The omission of Dr. Evil from [...]
Kenneth Johnson, executive producer of The Incredible Hulk television show (and director of the spectacular Short Circuit 2, among other things), has a side-splitting list of all the reasons that David Banner had for hulking out on said The Incredible Hulk show. It is without a doubt the funniest thing I’ve read in a long [...]
Argh! If I get any more emails about that goddamn Iraqi stray dog that got rescued and brought to America I’m going to hunt Charlie the dog down and punch it in the face. I’m already operating on cute overload, I can’t take any more!
He hesitated just a bit as he rounded a corner inside [...]
Collected from RottenTomatoes.com:
“Imagine how the world might be changed if people could instantaneously transport themselves anywhere… If you can, you have more imagination than the people behind [this].”
– Daniel M. Kimmel, Worcester Telegram & Gazette
That is one of the kinder reviews.
“Given its uninvolving story, uninteresting characters and the presence of half-man/half-tree Hayden Christensen, the movie [...]
If you’ve seen Juno then you should find this hilarious.
For the record, I liked Juno, excruciatingly-witty parts aside. Over-writing is death.
Dr. Lawrence T. Goldfinger explains the difference between a song “cover” and “remake,” presents The Law of Remakes, and gives 12 examples of the better remakes that have been done.
His list includes a lot of really amazing songs, many of which I knew nothing about (granted, I know nothing about a lot of things). Music [...]
Ok, so my awesome run of watching great movies has come to a crashing end with Danny Boyle’s Sunshine. What’s sucks, too, is that for about 1 hour and 12 minutes this was easily one of the best movies I’ve seen in 2008. After that point in the film, things get painful.
The story is pretty [...]
I present to you now the dance-tastic music video for Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill,” which is hilarious even by 80’s standards.
Says Wikipedia about this video:
MTV however, chose not to show this video and instead used a live performance of the song recorded at a promotional appearance on the BBC TV show Wogan). This [...]
If you haven’t seen the gameplay movies from StarCraft 2, then you haven’t seen movies of the most awesome video game ever! Here are parts 1, 2, 3, and 4.
If God was a game developer he’d work for Blizzard.
Thanks to Jake for the heads up.
David Anaxagoras asks, “Do writers have any obligation to the truth?”
I caught the first part of ABC’s new drama Eli Stone tonight. I turned it off when it became clear that the episode would revolve around the titular lawyer nobly taking on a woman’s case against a vaccine manufacturer for causing her son’s autism.
The problem? [...]

Any video that references “Darmok and Jalad at Tenagra” is unquestionably sexy.
Thanks to Alana for sending this to me.
In which I do sexy math.
In which I put up Thor as the GOP nominee for 2008.
